 nd sharing food has been such a wonderful part of my adult life. Having pe
 ople at the table and presenting a meal made with thoughtful ingredients i
 s a joyful experience. Or having a gathering in which everyone brings some
 thing to share is\, for me\, one of the most civilized and lovely ways to 
 pass an evening.\nMy husband\, Tim\, built our kitchen table with his frie
 nd\, Nick. It's made of maple and cherry\, simple and stunning.  We can f
 it\, comfortably\, eight people around it\, but have\, certainly\, fit mor
 e. None of our chairs match. Nor do our plates. I love when the table is f
 illed with shared offerings\, the vessels that are used\, the tools to ser
 ve\, the candles that illuminate the space. The kitchen becomes cacophonou
 s with laughter and side conversations\, toasts\, and great cheer. Everyon
 e is happy when beautiful food is laid before them\, but mostly they are h
 appy to gather.\nThe Sharing is not just food. It's love and kindness and 
 humanity and friendship\, kinship all around the table. It's the pure joy 
 in the moment and what remains when our bellies are full and we've hugged 
 our good nights\, knowing we all had a place at the table".\n\n\n
