Community Acupuncture
This is designed to be an accessible, low cost way to receive acupuncture and experience nervous system regulation in a community setting. The NADA (National Acupuncture Detox Association) protocol will be offered, which involves placing 5 needles in each ear and letting these sit for at least 30 minutes. This protocol, spearheaded by the Black Panthers, was established as a direct community response to fight the opioid crisis in the 1970’s. Dr. Mutulu Shakur brought this protocol to the Bronx in order to better serve his community. This protocol facilitates healing from addiction as well as the underlying stress and trauma that coexists alongside addiction. NADA can help regulate the nervous system, improve sleep, restore coherence after PTSD, as well as nurture a sense of inner calmness, strength, and introspection.
