Saturday, December 7, 2024 7 pm — UUCUV Meetinghouse, 320 Route 5 South, Norwich, VT Guy Davis is a two-time, back-to-back Grammy nominee for Best Traditional Blues. A musician, actor, author, and songwriter, Guy’s music comments on and addresses the frustrations of social injustice, touching on historical events and common life struggles.

Davis says his blues music is inspired by the Southern speech of his grandmother. Though raised in the New York City area, he grew up hearing accounts of life in the rural South from his parents (actors Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis) and especially his grandparents, and they made their way into his own stories and songs. His parallel careers–as an author, a teacher and a film, television and Broadway actor–mark Davis as a Renaissance man, yet the blues remain his first and greatest love.
