THURSDAY RUMNEY SESSIONS – 

This Thursday, March 20th, we'll be joined in the Rumney Barn by *Duo Lakou*,
who are two members of the Haitian band, *Lakou Mizik*.

*Steeve Valcourt* is a lead Singer and Guitarist for the Haitian roots band
Lakou Mizik. He is a celebrated Haitian singer, songwriter, and guitarist
who has been performing internationally for over twenty years. His father,
Boulo Valcourt, was a legend of Haitian music and instilled in Steeve a
deep love of the country’s traditional songs and rhythms. Through
Lakou Mizik, he has continued on the same path and worked to bring Haitian
culture to audiences around the world. He is currently living in Woodstock
with his daughter Atara.

*Nadine Niles *is a renowned vocalist with Lakou Mizik, who learned her
craft in the very active church and gospel scene in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
She was discovered by Haitian legend Boulo Valcourt and honed her skills
singing backup for him around Haiti. This was where she was introduced to
Haitian traditional songs and began to gain appreciation for this music.
She has since toured throughout North America with Lakou Mizik and has sung
on recordings with Jackson Browne, Jonathan Russell of the Head and the
Heart, Jon Cleary, and many others. Nadine now lives in Barnard with her
family.
