DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTHURSDAY RUMNEY SESSIONS – \n\n\nThis Thursday \, March 20th\, we'll be joined in the Rumney Barn by *Duo Lakou*\,\nwho a re two members of the Haitian band\, *Lakou Mizik*.\n\n*Steeve Valcourt* i s a lead Singer and Guitarist for the Haitian roots band\nLakou Mizik. He is a celebrated Haitian singer\, songwriter\, and guitarist\nwho has been performing internationally for over twenty years. His father\,\nBoulo Valc ourt\, was a legend of Haitian music and instilled in Steeve a\ndeep love of the country’s traditional songs and rhythms. Through\nLakou Mizik\, h e has continued on the same path and worked to bring Haitian\nculture to a udiences around the world. He is currently living in Woodstock\nwith his d aughter Atara.\n\n*Nadine Niles *is a renowned vocalist with Lakou Mizik\, who learned her\ncraft in the very active church and gospel scene in Port -au-Prince\, Haiti.\nShe was discovered by Haitian legend Boulo Valcourt a nd honed her skills\nsinging backup for him around Haiti. This was where s he was introduced to\nHaitian traditional songs and began to gain apprecia tion for this music.\nShe has since toured throughout North America with L akou Mizik and has sung\non recordings with Jackson Browne\, Jonathan Russ ell of the Head and the\nHeart\, Jon Cleary\, and many others.
