Chelsea Road Rally – 30th Annual Athletic Field Fundraiser
Sunday May 18 2025, Chelsea Road Rally to benefit the Chelsea athletic field. – You’ve never had this much fun in your car!
Come and join us for an afternoon of fun, laughter and bewilderment as you drive through local towns you think you know through a series of clues and answer questions about what you find.
It’s not a speed race; anyone can do it. The objective is to answer find things and answer questions in the shortest number of miles.
For 30 years Will Gilman (of Will’s Store) in Chelsea has organized this springtime Road Rally, to raise funds for the Roberts-Gould Athletic Field in Chelsea. He never has used the same clue or place twice. Some of the journey may take you to places you didn’t even know exist. The internet will do you no good. The clues and questions are a well-guarded secret only given out when you arrive.
The route contains a few checkpoints, to keep you from getting lost and exchange your answers for a new set of clues! One of the last checkpoints is an outdoor barbeque of burgers, hots and drinks to keep you going and chat with others.
Bring lots of friends and family in your vehicle, as that’s where the fun happens and you’ll need the help. You will argue, debate, laugh, brainstorm and scream. Many people have come for decades, even those that have moved away return as for many it’s the highlight of the year. The quest will take you until midafternoon to complete and is held rain or shine.
It starts at 11:00 AM on Sunday May 18th, so arrive early. Meet at the Chelsea wastewater treatment plant on Route 110. Donation is $10 per person, children 10 and under are free. For more information call 685-4860.
