*Decaying Ice, Lingering Fall*
*When: *Wednesday, December 11 | 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
*Cost: *Free and open to the public*
Join us for an event that blends art and science to explore the beautiful
fragility of ice.
In the last two years, our region saw declines in the extent and thickness
of ice that had rarely occurred before. Using macro-photographic images,
local photographer Steve Arcone documented the beautiful, but disturbing
progression of ice decay on a small pond in West Lebanon, NH during the
fall and winter of 2022 – 2023 and 2023 – 2024.
This photo-story is comprised of stunning photographs that will take
viewers on a colorful journey from the initial cool-blue sunlit freezes in
mid-November through the many warmly colored thaw-freeze episodes observed
in early winter to spectacular, blue crystals frozen within a sheet of
“black ice.”
