FULL MOON (9/29) and SUNRISE (10/07) hikes at Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park
Join Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park Rangers and partners for two exciting “out-of-hours” events:
Full Moon Hike: 9/29, 5:30pm
Our first event will be a September Supermoon experience! Starting at 5:30pm with a brief astronomy program, we will then start our hike up to the South Peak of Mount Tom where we will watch the full moon rise over Woodstock village!
The 4-mile roundtrip hike will include approximately 400 ft of elevation gain on carriage roads. The trail has sections of steep terrain. Please arrive with reliable flashlights or headlamps, sturdy shoes, water, snacks, and warm layers.

Sunrise hike: 10/07, 5:30am
Our second even will be a sunrise hike to the South Peak of Mount Tom! Starting bright and early (5:30am!) at Prosper Road trailhead. This hike will take us to a viewpoint in time to watch the sun rise over the fall foliage of the Upper Valley! The best way to start your day!
The 4-mile hike will begin promptly at 5:30am and begin and end at Prosper Road trailhead. It includes approximately 400 ft of elevation gain on carriage roads. The trail has sections of steep and uneven terrain. Please bring a reliable flashlight or headlamp, water, sturdy shoes, warm layers, and sunglasses.
