About the event

This four hour class teaches students the basics of how to create a hand

painted nature-themed flag bunting. The focus of the class will be on

painting multiples of the same design, creating five identical flags in a

fun and efficient process.

I’ll start by giving a brief presentation on my design process, with visual

examples of botanical flag designs I’ve created. I’ll go over basic painting

techniques and material selection, students will have time to sketch

design ideas and select a color palette, and then we’ll jump into

painting!

At the end of the class there is the opportunity to do a “community

swap”, exchanging flags with other students to create a banner of five

unique flags. We will assemble the flags into banners, and students will

take home a unique piece of folk art to decorate their favorite space.

About the Instructor:

Meg Reinhold is a muralist and textile artist. She lives in a scenic river

valley in Granville Vermont, where she operates Trillium Handcrafts from

her home studio. Her style is best described as folk art, taking inspiration

from traditional handcrafts and a close relationship to the land.

Meg makes things that are beautiful and useful, that celebrate our

relationship with the natural world and incorporate art into everyday life
